Abstract Painting: Analytical Abstraction Project


I am just finishing (in an hour I go to the last class) my Abstract painting course at SCAD. For my analytical abstraction project I studied the limulus polyphemus or the Atlantic horseshoe crab. I was given a horseshoe crab shell by my friend Chris, and seeing it sitting on my colorful binder is what inspired my project.

This is the painting that resulted, I enjoy it though I want to add a layer of oil before I consider its “done”ness. It is about Three feet by four feet:
